I saw the relevance and of importance sharing about the requirement of a full reliance on God, which is faith (Genuine faith).

What is faith?

“Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is evidence of things we cannot see”

Hebrews 11:1

It is believing in the absence of results. To describe is believing you want to do something even though you have no living proof about it happening. This marks a misunderstanding for most people because we live in a world where we want proof of expectation to take action. For example, when starting a business plan, when looking at financial projections for the future, and when reading a book, you expect to have gained an understanding or knowledge and many more examples.

However, as much as you display faith there’s a discernment to genuine faith or counterfeit faith.

Genuine faith

Story: Genesis 12:1-4

Abram Before Abram was well known for his famous acts of faith when he left his entire family community or society; therefore, you will ask where faith is being displayed. When he left out believing in God and his promise, which is if you had to read it further, you would understand that he explored the promised land given to him.

The one key factor I want you to take is that Abram not only just showed this genuine faith, but the addition is when you start to read the rest of his life (Gen 12 – 25), as it is his loyalty to God (which at many cases it is always confused being faith).

Counterfeit faith

Faith as I said requires action and belief therefore the counterfeit is when you put your beliefs in Idols and of this world so much that you create your fulfilment of God’s promises for example Ishmael came from the birth of impatience and doubt of Sarah on God’s promise for a child and she resulted with her child after years passed by later.

Counterfeit faith requires you to believe in your strength to fulfil God’s promises while genuine faith requires your dependence on God.

Jesus is the one you should look towards to understanding faith as well because of his life and teachings he gave further expressed even deeper understanding for example

Matthew 6:33

“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”

Jesus instructs us to now seek the Kingdom of God. A place/dwelling of the Almighty God.

Which is what our target should be, in it lives a triune God. Here Jesus promises us that God will provide us with all our needs and that what our focus should be on is the seeking of God above all else, understand that it doesn’t mean you should no longer think about food and desire to have food, clothes, or others but like a priceless treasure you would care more about seeking rather than being distracted.

Therefore, this should serve as a reminder to evaluate ourselves on our faith because you might find out more about your dependence on God or, better, where your faith lies in this world filled with distractions.
